Breathe

It’s been a long while since I updated this blog because my attention has been focused on filmmaking and painting for the past few years.

But now, we have a pandemic and everything is different. I took a little time-out from the news-cycle and spent a few hours at Torrey Pines Beach in California to wander and meditate.

If you have a chance to go out into nature and take a few deep breaths – don’t wait. Remember gratitude. We all need a re-set.

Winter Lights

Over the holidays, as we travelled across the country to visit family, we made a stop in Austin, Texas for a fun 24 hours. We checked out downtown and its vibrant bar/restaurant scene and then headed to Zilker Park to walk Austin’s annual ‘Trail of Lights’. What can I say, it was a spectacular 1 1/4 mile walk! Chilly (in the 20’s!), but beeeautiful!

Winterstorm Clouds

I went up Cowles Mountain and Pyle’s Peak with some of my friends early morning on Christmas Day. There was a huge, dark cloud approaching and as we tried to ‘outhike’ it, it did catch up with us and we got caught in a very fine, but cold rain. It made everything really quiet around us and it was a bit magical.

I took these with my phone camera. The changing light coming down between gaps in the clouds was spectacular and I’m afraid the photo doesn’t quite do it justice, but you get the idea.

LightWay

This photo needs some kind of meme caption…I dunno, something about following the light or being on the bright path, lol. Maybe you have an idea!

Winter Beach

I went running at Torrey Pines State Beach with my friend this beautiful December morning and wound up using my phone camera….I mean, how could I NOT? I’ll just let the pics to the talking ;)

I thought some of them would look really powerful in black and white as well:

’tis the season…

for family holiday portraits!

Nothing wrong with traditional family photos for the holidays, but some people are much more creative. I had the absolute pleasure to work with this family on their awesome idea for their annual Christmas cards. Can’t wait to see what they plan for next year!

October

Halloween season is here! It’s my favorite time of the year and it calls for a cemetery photo blog post! Last time I went to New Orleans, I couldn’t help but revisit two of the city’s most famous graveyards: Lafayette No. 1 & St. Louis No. 1.

After going through all of photos I took there, I decided to do something a bit different. I picked my favorites and did a bit of Photoshop trickery, mainly bringing out the splashes of color of the flowers or greenery around the graves. There is life in the cemetery after all! On a side note: none of the photos showed any sign of spirits, ghouls, ghosts or even vampires. Le sigh.

Please click to enlarge to get the full effect. Maybe you can spot the human in the 4th photo down ;)
